Check your tracks every now and then
It's easy for dirt and debris to get into your garage door's tracks, and if your door has been having issues with moving slowly or otherwise, this may be part of the problem. There can be anything from just some grime to even leaves and other larger things stuck in the rut and it will only continue to add up over time. Giving them a cleaning is an easy way to help ensure your door is able to open and close smoothly.
You can use your garage door if the power is out
If the power's out and you need to open your door so you can leave, most openers have an emergency release that will allow you to open it. Look for a cord dangling down with a red handle and give it a pull. You've now made it possible to open and close the door manually until the power's back! Just be careful, your door is heavier than it looks and the safety sensors will no longer be functioning.
